1. Purpose

This policy describes how Minote collects, uses, and protects personal data in connection with the use of the app and our associated services.

2. Information We Collect

We only collect data that is necessary to provide the service:

  • Account information: name, email address, password.
  • Usage data: app activity, features you use, technical performance.
  • Content: notes, audio, video, and images that you choose to store.
  • Payment data: handled by our third-party providers (App Store, Google Play, Stripe).

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your information to:

  • Provide and improve the Minote service
  • Ensure technical operation and user support
  • Manage subscriptions and payments
  • Develop new features based on anonymized data
  • Comply with legal and security requirements

4. Face Data

Minote does not collect face data. Biometric authentication is performed entirely by iOS on the user’s device. The app only receives a success or failure result to unlock access. No biometric template or face image is stored by Minote or uploaded to our servers. Face ID / Touch ID is used solely as an on-device unlock method and does not involve Minote collecting biometric or facial information.
Will face data be shared with any third parties? Where is it stored?
No. Because we do not collect face data, none is shared with third parties. Biometric verification remains on-device via the system biometric framework / Secure Enclave
How long will face data be retained?
We do not retain face data.

5. Data Protection and Security

We encrypt all personal data during transmission and storage.

Access to your data is restricted to employees with a legitimate need and is subject to confidentiality obligations.

We use EU-hosted data centers in compliance with GDPR.

6. Sharing of Information

We only share data with third parties when necessary for:

  • Payment and subscription management
  • Technical hosting and operations
  • Legal requirements or regulatory requests

All partners are subject to data processing agreements in accordance with GDPR.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Request correction or deletion
  • Withdraw consent
  • Lodge a complaint with the Danish Data Protection Agency if you believe your rights have been violated

8. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain data for as long as your account is active.

Upon account deletion, all personal data is removed within 30 days, unless longer retention is required by law.

9. Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated. Changes will be communicated via the app or email.
